Ir. Bernard Sagaiyaraj holds a Bachelor’s Degree (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from University Malaya, a Certified Diploma in Accounting and Finance and a Master’s in Business Administration from Heriot-Watt University. (Currently working on a Masters in Green Building from the San Francisco Institute of Architecture)

Member of the Board of Engineers Malaysia (P.Eng), member of the Institute of Engineers Malaysia (M.I.E.M.), an associate-member of ASHRAE (American Society of Hearing, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers), associate member of IIR (International Institute of Refrigeration), member of ISIAQ (International Society of Indoor Air Quality), and USGBC (United States Green Building Council) and two LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Accredited Professional (AP) accreditation : LEED AP ( generalized AP for all types of LEED Certification ) and LEED AP ND ( Specialized LEED AP for LEED Neighbourhood Development ) for international Green Township certification.

Bernard’s key technical experience is in Commercial Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration design, application support and improving Chiller and Refrigeration system efficiencies

Currently this experience has translated to good Green Building design as the understanding of building energy loads and the various methods to reduce these loads plus using energy-efficient Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning designs is key. He is qualified to provide USGBC LEED Certification and Energy Audits for Commercial buildings and is currently working on various projects and also involved in the development of green technology systems.

In his past experience, Bernard has done extensive Product Development for new Energy-Efficient refrigeration products, designed Refrigeration Heat load calculators and used to conduct monthly HVAC/Refrigeration seminars for refrigeration systems design.

He is also highly capable of carrying out Project Management of intensive Mechanical and Electrical Projects (incl. project engineering and project financial planning), Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Design, Construction and Commissioning, Mechanical design of Clean Room and Process Cooling system.

Bernard is currently the one of the leading consultants in the country for carbon footprint analysis and providing strategies for carbon emissions reduction and is an invited member of the national Green Technology Council to provide solutions for driving Malaysian towards a low-carbon economy.
